03 On the Wing
A wearable that uses her construction, not a cartoon bird cane. Morning: sister pair. Afternoon: one piece finished and baked. Findings only if there is time after cool-down.
The assignment
Graphic disc
One clean eye-spot face, black field, set as a ring or stud. Quiet. This is the middle-finger ring.
Overlay cluster
5–9 thin slices, points out, lime eyes and monarch cells mixed. This is the statement ring. Optional: one small 3D monarch perched on top if the overlays are already stable.
You may finish only one wearable and keep the other as a cab. One readable piece beats two muddy ones.
Clock
- Morning — Slice inventory from 01/02 (or recap canes if this is a standalone day). Sort: eyes, cells, duds. Duds become veneer, not jewelry.
- Late morning — Build the disc. Build the cluster on a slightly domed black base. Do not start a 14-component bird.
- Lunch — Oven preheat. Findings talk: stud + drop, window dangle, pin. Choose one architecture.
- Afternoon — Refine edges. Optional tiny monarch (simple wing pair + body snake — not entomology class).
- Bake — Full bake for the thickness you actually built. Cool on the tile. Do not rush findings onto hot clay.
- Last 40 min — Findings if cool; otherwise a finish card goes home with the piece.
